Eagle Scout — The Highest Rank
Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in Scouts BSA, earned by fewer than 4% of all Scouts. It requires demonstrated leadership, community service, and mastery of outdoor skills — a distinction that follows a young man for life.
Troop 1002 is proud to have produced over 40 Eagle Scouts since our founding. Each one completed a significant Eagle Scout Service Project benefiting the Richmond and Fort Bend community, earned a minimum of 21 merit badges, and demonstrated the leadership and character the rank demands.
Eagle Scout Requirements
- Earn a minimum of 21 merit badges, including 13 required Eagle badges
- Demonstrate Scout Spirit through the Scout Oath and Law
- Plan, develop, and lead a significant community service project

Giving Back
Community Service
Service is not optional in Scouting — it is a core value. Troop 1002 Scouts give back to the Richmond and Fort Bend community through Eagle Scout projects, Good Turn service days, and ongoing volunteer efforts.
Eagle Scout Projects
Each Eagle Scout candidate plans and leads a substantial community service project. Past projects have included park improvements, food bank builds, and community beautification efforts throughout Fort Bend County.
Annual Service Hours
Troop 1002 Scouts collectively log hundreds of community service hours each year — cleaning parks, supporting local nonprofits, and serving neighbors in need.
Good Turn for America
As part of BSA's national service initiative, our Scouts participate in community Good Turn projects that make a measurable difference in the lives of others.
